MoveSmart was established to inspire companies to create lasting impact by normalising sustainable mobility.
For companies, mobility is much more than just getting from A to B – it is a key driver of success. Efficient mobility solutions ensure seamless service delivery, lower operating costs and greater agility in daily operations. At the same time, today’s employees expect attractive, sustainable and convenient mobility options that simplify their professional lives and increase the company’s reputation as an employer of choice.
In Switzerland, mobility accounts for approximately one-third of total carbon emissions, making it a primary lever for reaching climate targets. Swiss policymakers are systematically introducing new, stricter measures, ranging from national climate reporting obligations to cantonal mobility strategies.
However, maintaining a clear overview while setting and achieving reduction targets remains a significant challenge. Companies must navigate these complexities without compromising their competitiveness or the quality of the benefits offered to their staff.
Mobility has evolved into a strategic priority – one that must balance economic efficiency, employee satisfaction and environmental responsibility.
Under the Paris Agreement and Article 5 of the Climate and Innovation Act (in effect as of 1 January 2025), Switzerland has committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. read more
The law also sets interim targets. Under the 2025 Federal Climate Act, total greenhouse gas emissions must decrease by an average of 64% (relative to 1990 levels) between 2031 and 2040, with the transport sector specifically required to achieve a 57% reduction by 2040.
The EU Climate Law came into force in the EU in 2021. This legislation enshrines the EU’s commitment to net-zero emissions by 2050 and also establishes an interim target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 55% (relative to 1990 levels) by 2030 (European Climate Law 2021).
